Carte blanche from the Domaine départemental de Chamarande to SIANA, an artistic laboratory and resource centre for digital and hybrid cultures in Essonne and the southern Paris region
* In the words of Hervé Covès
SIANA and the Domaine départemental de Chamarande are presenting a monographic exhibition by Karine Bonneval, Se planter - Récolter le soleil et cultiver la pluie*, conceived as a journey through the Chamarande estate, echoing the artist's creations.
Nourished by collaborations with a philosopher, a performer, scientists, cooks, craftspeople and local residents, Karine Bonneval's artistic practice unfolds in a rhizomatic way through artistic installations and workshops for the general public. The works reflect a great deal of attention to know-how and experimentation. The workshops encourage everyone to test their attention to others, both plants and humans. These two aspects of the artist's work are fully part of the same research.
Starting with a reflection on what humans have in common with plants, and building on initial research into the plant as object - colonised plant, domestic plant - Karine Bonneval's approach, imbued with alternative ecologies, allows each of us to feel our place at the heart of all living things. She encourages us to move with the plants, breathe with the trees and listen to the earth.
