From agricultural trade to general gardening, La Graineterie is celebrating the fifth year of its transformation into an art centre. Witnesses of the transition from an agrarian landscape to a residential urbanization where the pleasure garden has gradually gained its place, the past activities of La Graineterie reflect in a way the humanization of nature and the gradual disappearance of the wild in our daily lives. The exhibition Jardins d'hiver then becomes a pretext to evoke the idea of nature today, that is, according to some, that of a plant world controlled by man. With an assumed sensitivity, but without a desire for denunciation or judgment, the three invited visual artists testify by their artistic gestures to an empirical approach of the living and the vegetable. In their own way, they domesticate and "acculturate" nature. And it is as enlightened amateurs that they use, among other things, the springs of botany and the herbarium to distil an exhibition between nature and artifice, figuration and abstraction.
